Preschool years are the most ideal time for foreign language learning. Children’s brains memorize and link words faster because in the early years they do not even realize they learn something new. They are led to learning a foreign language by their own curiosity and creativity. To make it possible to learn a language spontaneously, learning methods need to be adapted to children’s world: i.e. learning through playing, songs, pantomime, dancing and telling stories, supported by pictures. While listening to songs and stories they can imitate the voices and words easily and learn to follow the rhythm and intonation of a foreign language. They learn languages intuitively and do not ask about the meaning of words. At the same time they learn to think in a foreign language and get an ear for it.

  

A playful atmosphere helps children develop language skills, a positive attitude towards learning and key competences for lifelong learning. All of this helps them later with an active, effective and critical integration into their school, social environment, further education and future professional work.

The contents of the language courses are thematically adapted to the abilities and the age of the children.

The main goal of early foreign language learning is getting an ear for language, pronunciation and basic skills to communicate in a foreign language, which children develop gradually through carefully selected contents.

English courses for younger children have been performed for many years at the nursery in Domžale, in Golnik and elsewhere.
